The word for "What the Doodle?" this week was scent. I could not help thinking of smelling salts. I've always had a fascination with the strange practices of the 19th century. And they make fun cartoons.

It's officially summer, and summer in Boston never fails to remind me of Japan. It has the same kind of heat and humidity, and sometimes even the same smells. So here's a little nostalgic ode to Japan. This goldfish catching game is common during summer festivals. You get a little paper net that tears easily when it gets wet. If you can catch a fish with it, you get to take it home!
